This morning the Poor House was feeling a little blue as our dear basement dweller, Caiti, packed up her belongings and hit the road. She's headed for L.A. to pursue her career and has accepted an internship at a media production company (?). When we walked back in the house after waving goodbye to her and Jan, we sat on the couch quietly and thought about how the house felt emptier. As excited as we all are for her, it should come as no surprise that we are going to miss her. A lot.
We spent our last evening with her in Denver at Sancho's (obviously). We came home and for the first time, explored our attic. Don't ask us why it had to happen at 12:30 a.m. on a Friday, but it did. Turns out there's not much to it, although Kels is pretty certain there's a large rodent of sorts living up there.
Anyway, I digress. This post is about Caiti and the zest that she brought to our house. She connected us, she kept things light and fun, and she was my partner in crime down in the basement. We're going to try to skype as often as possible, preferably at 6 p.m. mountain time so that she can continue to compete in our daily jeopardy competitions.
You'd think it would get easier, saying goodbye to your best friends... since it seems that you spend your young adult life moving from one place to the next, but it doesn't. Especially when you get used to said friend being three feet from you most of the day. Nevertheless, change is necessary, change is an opportunity to grow, and we know our Caiti will always be a part of the Poor House even as she starts her own adventure.
Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
Some trails are happy ones,
Others are blue.
It's the way you ride the trail that counts,
Here's a happy one for you.

Remember what Dr. Seuss wrote!! Caiti's going to be famous with a new show called "Saratoga Sassies" starring Norah and Caiti.
